Tree Planting
Many people around the world are planting trees as a means of offsetting their carbon footprint with a view to becoming carbon neutral. It is recognised by experts and being a positive eco-action.
Each tree planted ‘offsets’ your environmental impact by ‘breathing’ in about 730 kilograms of CO2 emissions over its lifetime. The trees also provide sustainable habitat for wildlife and will enhance the natural landscape with native broad-leaved trees.
Here at Eco Trading, we plant all trees ourselves, in the beautiful surrounding Kentish countryside.
*How does tree planting work in terms of helping the environment?
Trees use energy from the sun to fuel photosynthesis. Photosynthesis converts water and co2 absorbed from the stmosphere into carbohydrates that are used by the tree for nutrients. The by-product of photsynthesis is oxygen, which is released by trees into the atmosphere. So by absorbing co2, trees rid the environment of an excess pollutant whilst giving us oxygen to breathe.
*How are Eco Trading involved in the process of tree planting?
Our aim is to find areas of land around the UK, preferably near towns. If the land is suitable enough for tree planting, we intend to plant your trees to help decrease the UKs carbon amount. Eventually, when your trees are of considerable age (minimum 25 years) they stop absorbing as much CO2.
However - we intend to harvest these old trees and plant a new tree instead. This will not only make sure that we are absorbing as much Carbon emissions as possible, but the process will also help the UK be more sustainable, as we currently import 85% of our timber. As you may know, this causes considerable damage to the environment.
Initially, we are offering tree planting as a way of offsetting your Carbon Footprint – but we have many more carbon offset schemes in development which you’ll be able to get involved with in due course.
*What happens once I've purchased my tree(s)?
Once you’ve bought your tree and we’ve planted it, you’ll have a chance to give it a great big hug – should you be that way inclined!
The surrounding picturesque picnic areas will ensure your tree visit is a real occasion – why not bring the family and show them the fruits of your labour?
Located at the heart of Kent, the Garden of England is a beautiful place to come and see the impact your investment is having on the environment.
We will inform you when and where each tree is planted, and what’s more, each tree comes with a unique certificate of purchase. Why not display your commitment to the planet for all to see – it can take as little as five trees to make a positive impact.
*Does all this mean I can sit back and relax once I've planted a few trees?
Not exactly, no – although there is no doubt that forestation is a profound help to the environment. We all need to work together in a variety of ways to win the battle against Climate Change. Check out our store, maybe purchase a great value energy saving item or two, and let’s make a difference today.
